Eeragh Lighthouse - Reduction in Range of Navigational Light

The Commissioners of Irish Lights hereby give notice that at sunset on the evening of Monday 27 November 2006 or as soon thereafter as circumstances permit, a new solar powered light of 18 NM range will replace the existing light at Eeragh Lighthouse (A6296). Prior to this event it will be necessary to exhibit a temporary light of lesser range for a period of approximately seven days from sunset on the evening of Monday 20 November 2006.
The character, phasing, and ranges of the existing, temporary and new lights are as follows:

EXISTING LIGHT

Position: 53° 08.909' N 09° 51.402' W
Character: Fl W 15s (0.2 + 14.8 = 15s)
Range: 23 nautical miles
Visible: 297° - 262° (325°)
Height above MHWS: 35m
Lighting Time: Hours of Darkness

 

TEMPORARY LIGHT

Position: 53° 08.909' N 09° 51.402' W
Character: Fl W 15s (1.0 + 14.0 = 15s)
Range: 10 nautical miles
Visible: 297° - 262° (325°)
Height above MHWS: 35m
Lighting Time: Hours of Darkness

 

NEW LIGHT

Position: 53° 08.909' N 09° 51.402' W
Character: Fl W 15s (0.2 + 14.8 = 15s)
Range: 18 nautical miles
Visible: 297° - 262° (325°)
Height above MHWS: 35m
Lighting Time: Hours of Darkness

 
All other details remain unchanged.
Radio Navigational Warnings will be issued when each of the above changes take place.
