Irish Lights is seeking to recruit a Deck Supervisor (Bosun) to join the crew on board their multi-purpose DP 1 vessel, Granuaile. This role reports to the Senior Operations Officer (Chief Officer).
The successful candidate will:
- Manage the day-to-day deck maintenance and the supervise deck operations.
- Organise the planning, scheduling and assigning of work to the deck crew on the ship, in conjunction with the Senior Operations Officer.
- Have a supervisory role in the maintenance of aids to navigation, including offshore stations and buoys.
- Provide support for charter operations.
- Be responsible for mooring operations.
- Supervise the operation and maintenance of deck machinery, including cranes and workboats.
- Ensure cost effective/efficient use of resources.
- Be accountable for deck and accommodation cleanliness
- Provide mentoring to crew members in shipboard and service operations.
The successful candidate must hold a valid STCW II/5 Able Seafarers Deck Certificate of Competency and the supporting STCW certificates as detailed in the Candidate Briefing Pack. Previous experience on specialised vessels such as Aids to Navigation, Offshore or Naval vessels this would be distinct advantage.
The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated leader with strong communication skills. They must have the ability to prioritise work, take ownership of tasks and work efficiently. Where English is not their first language, the candidate must have achieved at least 80% on the Marlin Test.
