Irish Lights is seeking to recruit an Assistant Deck Supervisor to join the team on board our vessel ILV Granuaile.
The duties of an Assistant Deck Supervisor include maintenance of aids to navigation, shipboard maintenance, mooring operations, watch keeping and operating deck machinery. The successful candidate will be working with cranes, winches, workboats and helicopter operations and will also be required to carry out specific duties associated with their experience in shipboard operations.
Irish Lights operations include servicing buoys and lighthouses so candidates will need a good level of fitness for working on moving platforms and at height.
The Assistant Deck Supervisor must have leadership skills to enable them to supervise deck and service operations in the absence of the Deck Supervisor. The successful candidate will also be expected to lead by example, particularly in respect to safe working practices.
A valid STCW II/5 Able Seafarer Deck Certificate of Competency is required, along with the supporting STCW certificates as follows:
- Proficiency in Survival Craft (CPSC) STCW-95
- Personal Survival Techniques
- Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting,
- Elementary First Aid
- Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities
- Designated Security Duties training
A valid Seafarers Medical Certificate is also required. Ideally, the successful candidate will also have deckhand experience on specialised vessels such as Aids to Navigation or Offshore Anchor Handling.
This position offers an attractive salary range (starting point of the salary scale is €37,025 rising to €46,027), time for time roster (4 weeks on/4 weeks off) and a generous defined benefit pension scheme.
