Inishtrahull Lighthouse - Reduction in range of Navigational Light

Area: North Coast of Ireland

The Commissioners of Irish Lights hereby give notice that on 20th September 2000, or as soon thereafter as circumstances permit, the light at Inishtrahull (A6164) will be replaced by a new solar powered light. This will necessitate the provision of a temporary light for a period of approximately three weeks from about 31st August 2000.
The character, phasing and ranges of the existing, temporary and new lights are as follows:
EXISTING LIGHT
Position:

55° 25.8' N

07° 14.6'W

Character:

Fl. (3) W 15 s.

Fl 0.3, ec 2.2, fl 0.3, ec 2.2, fl 0.3, ec 9.7 = 15 secs

Range: 25 nautical miles
Racon: 'T' (3 & 10 cms)
Lighting Time:

During Hours of Darkness and in periods of reduced visibility by day.

 

TEMPORARY LIGHT
Position:

55° 25.8' N

07° 14.6'W

Character:

Fl. (3) W 15 s.

Fl 0.3, ec 2.2, fl 0.3, ec 2.2, fl 0.3, ec 9.7 = 15 secs

Range: 11 nautical miles
Racon: 'T' (3 & 10 cms)
Height above MHWS: 56 metres
Lighting Time: During Hours of Darkness and in periods of reduced visibility by day.

 

NEW LIGHT

07° 14.6'W

Fl 0.2, ec 2.3, fl 0.2, ec 2.3, fl 0.2, ec 9.8 = 15 secs

Range: 19 nautical miles
Racon: 'T' (3 & 10 cms)
Lighting Time: During Hours of Darkness and in periods of reduced visibility by day.

Radio Navigational Warnings will be issued on the establishment of the temporary light and on the commencement of the new light.
