Consequent to the full implementation of the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) on 1st February 1999, Mariners are advised that the Marine Radiobeacon and Calibration Service provided by the Commissioners of Irish Lights will be permanently discontinued from the same date or soon thereafter. Radio direction transmissions will therefore cease from the following stations:

Blackhead Antrim (Calibration only)
(BA)
South Rock Lightfloat
(SU)
Baily (Also Calibration)
(BY and BC)
Tuskar Rock
(TR)
Old Head of Kinsale (Also Calibration)
(OH and KC)
Mizen Head
(MZ)
Loophead
(LP)
Eagle Island
(GL)
Tory Island
(TY)
The Medium Frequency Differential GPS service provided from Mizen Head, Loophead and Tory Island will not be affected. Full details of these Radiobeacons and Differential GPS Services may be found in the Admiralty List of Radio Signals - Vol 2 (NP 282).
